10 Jan

On the heels of the closing of the 8th ISS  (although post-conference tours are still ongoing), we are delighted to have some photos to share with you, dear readers. See them on the WSN blog right over here!

Congratulations to all the curators and exhibiting artists of the “ANIMAL FIBER: art informs shibori” exhibition, curated by Jean Leach Cacicedo and Jorie Johnson and held at the Hong Kong Design Institute.

Thank You from the Co-Chairs

3 Jan

A Thank You note from the 8ISS Co-Chairs:

With the theme “Technology Shaped by Creativity,” about 8 exhibitions of international and Chinese art in fiber were conducted for the 8ISS. About 150 international artists, designers, educators and researchers participated in the event. The publications of the 8ISS include the Symposium proceeding entitled “Technology Shaped by Creativity” and 2 design catalogues, “New Beat + Energy Nexus: International Shibori Design Collection” and “Animal Fibers: Art Informs Shibori”. More than 95 papers were presented/posted from outstanding speakers. There were 8 workshops and a trunk show in the Symposium program.

The unremitting efforts of our team members have been fruitful and the Symposium received complimentary comments from the 8ISS participants. We were very pleased to hear Mr. Jack Lenor Larsen, the textile design master, comment that “the 8ISS is the best of the International Shibori Symposiums.”

We would like to thank the organizers, collaborator, sponsors and academic supporters of the 8ISS for their contributions and supports. The success of the event is really a concerted efforts by all the people involved. Particularly the organizing committee, the technicians and students who took part in the Symposium, it was their constructive advices, creative ideas, and hard work which made the success possible. They developed a positive spirit and provided further impetus for the programme to move ahead. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their excellent works!

In closing, we salute the 8ISS team members for your contributions, which created the remarkable 8ISS!

With all our best regards,

Kinor & Yoshiko
